We know sustainability is increasingly important to our attendees and exhibitors, as well as to our market as a whole. Running Food ingredients Europe gives us lots of opportunities to improve our impact-environmentally, socially and economically. We want to make our event more responsible and play a role in helping our markets improve its own sustainability through connecting people with the networks and knowledge they want to help solve the big challenges in our sector.

Our sustainable efforts for 2020

Each edition we look at ways to improve the sustainability of our events, based on the above three principles. Below is a selection of the initiatives that we have taken to improve our impact

Help our markets through inspiring sustainable development

  •  Food ingredients Europe proudly supports The Hunger Project as an official event partner. Please consider how you can support them and help us achieve a zero hunger
  • We facilitate Women’s Networking Breakfast to highlight female food industry leaders within the industry we serve
  •  The Future of Nutrition Summit explores cutting edge innovations in light of the sustainable development of the industry

Run the event in an increasingly environmentally responsible manner

  • Our event is powered by renewable electricity making it carbon neutral
  •  We carefully design our feature areas to minimise waste
  •  Event bags and lanyards are made from a recycled material
  • Our catering contains locally sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients, using minimal packaging and providing a variety of vegetarian options
  •  All of the carpet, signage, lanyards and paper used at the event is recycled
  • As an attendee you have the option within the registration system to offset your flight to the event 

Run the event in a socially responsible manner

  • We ensure safety of all onsite through implementing Health & Safety program
  •  Your wellbeing is important to us - please join our Food Evolution Networking Breakfast and connect with fellow attendees
  •  We reduce local traffic congestion through using a vehicle booking system and encouraging the use of public transport
  •  Diversity and Inclusion Award highlights the best initiative within the industry that creates a work environment with equal opportunities for everyone
  • We work with local suppliers and locally owned businesses to ensure positive impact on the local economy

How can you support sustainability

We are working with exhibitors, event partners and attendees to make Fi South America a sustainable event. As part of this plan, we have developed suggestions and tips for both exhibitors and visitors.

Food ingredients Europe ISO20121 certified sustainable event management system

Our event has been successfully accredited with the prestigious
ISO 20121 Standard for Sustainable Event Management since 2013.

The achievement of this International Standard is an extension
of the event’s pledge to responsible business.

The ISO 20121 Standard focuses on management commitment and
leadership, as well as stakeholder engagement for all aspects of sustainability through the whole supply chain. It recognises a continuing dedication to reduce the environmental impact of the event while increasing the positive impact on communities in which the business operates.
