Dr. Mohamed Abdelgawad is head of sales, marketing, and export at Taiba Company for Starch and Glucose, a company that specializes in manufacturing food raw materials such as rice starch glucose syrup, and dried glucose and healthy foods such as protein Dr. Mohamed has many years of experience in medical sales at renowned pharmaceutical companies such as Hoechst and Bristol Squibb He was also a field force supervisor in Saudi Arabia in companies that specialize in dairy products for children and infants such as Domex and Hipp before he became a sales manager in 2 dermacare companies : Aroma and Solvex companies Finally, head of sales, marketing, and export at Taiba Company for Starch and Glucose for food raw materials such as rice starch glucose syrup, and dried glucose and healthy foods such as protein.

Hanie El Desouki is the executive director of the Egyptian accreditation council, African Accreditation Cooperation Vice Chair, and was the Chairman of the National Quality Institute.  He is also a Certified international auditor in quality systems ISO 9001, a Certified international auditor in environmental management systems ISO 14001, a Certified international auditor in occupational safety and health systems OHSAS 18001, a Certified International Auditor in Energy Efficiency Systems ISO 5000.  Eng Hani is also a Certified Quality Manager, Quality Management Representative and Quality Auditor, has the Green Belt and is a peer evaluator.

Islam Elbarbari is a Regional Manager of GE Digital for Africa. He is a GE veteran with over 17 years of experience in digital industrial transformation, information technology, engineering and turnkey projects in Middle East.He leads GE’s strategic growth initiatives, supporting partners in Africa to look at digital industrial transformation, and focuses on further strengthening localized innovation in the digital space through industry and academia linkages.Islam has a strong understanding of the region, especially in the IT, engineering, and healthcare sectors, having served over 20 years in the region.Prior to this, Islam had a long history with GE Healthcare Digital Business, serving as managing Director for Saudi Market.Islam also worked as Executive Sales Manager for GE Healthcare in SaudiIslam holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering and MBA in Global Leadership.

Darren has held Sales and Service management positions in several companies, supplying solutions to customers in different industries, including Aerospace, Automotive, Facilities Management and Food & Drink.  Having spent most of his career specifying and selling Capital Equipment solutions, Darren's recent experience has been in providing SaaS and subscription based solutions, primarily in the food industry. Darren is currently a Director of his own Business Consultancy.  Having worked previously with the directors of SG Systems Global, he was asked to assist them with their plans to expand the reach of their V5 Traceability solution around the globe.  V5 has installations in North America, Europe (incl UK & Ireland), South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.  There is much interest from companies seeking to move away from paper-based production control and traceability systems into a digital alternative. ERP systems are becoming extremely common, if not essential in modern, SME's and large corporations.  With the need to collect production and stock information a necessity to ensure the ERP system can help control business costs and ensure compliance, there is a requirement to adopt a factory floor system which can link up the transactions of Raw Material receipts into the warehouse, through to consuming those ingredients into products and then finally packing those finished products at the end of the line. V5 from SG Systems integrates to all ERP Systems, pulling and pushing data via either an API or csv file exchange and handles all stock management and production stages with ease.  The electronic batch reports are available the instant that the transaction has happened, enabling a real time view of what is happening in production and also providing mass balance reports within seconds.  Preparing for a traceability audit can be quite daunting, but with V5, there is NO preparation as all the reports are available within a few mouse clicks.

Shaimaa Hatab is an associate professor of Food Processing Technology and Vice Dean of Faculty of organic agriculture, Heliopolis University, Egypt. Previously, she worked as a visiting scholar at College of Food and Pharmacy, Zhejiang Ocean University, China, an assistant researcher in the College of Food Science and Engineering of Northwest A&F University, and a lecturer in Food Science and Technology department at Suez Canal University in Egypt. Hatab completed her undergraduate studies at Size Canal University in Egypt. In 2012, she was awarded her doctoral degree in Food safety and microbiology from the Northwest A& F University in China. Hatab research interests revolve mainly around value-added nutraceutical & functional food production for disease prevention and health promotion as well as natural food preservatives for improving food quality and safety. in addition, food microbiology involving the handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. Recent her academic research activity has focused on the study of the bioactive peptides derived from fish byproducts and their possible application in food industry Hatab has authored several articles which have been published in international and national peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of scientific conferences. Moreover, she received several academic and research awards including, Talented Young scientist award 2014 and 2015 by Chinese academic of science.

Samir is currently the Danone Egypt director of Research & Innovation as well as Quality & Food Safety (double hat) leading a team of professionals to develop innovations across the total value chain while also ensuring the quality of our products through the entire route to market. Previously Samir was the director of global design for Mars Wrigley Confections based in Chicago, leading a team of designers & innovators who provoke the business to think bigger about market opportunities, at the same time delivering iconic brand experiences. Other capacities within Mars included director of the Future Innovation Team for Mars Global Chocolate based in Dubai. In this role he was responsible to define the future innovation program and the emerging market entry strategy for Mars Global Chocolate Segment to solve wicked problems facing the category. Samir has over 25 years in product development experience from around the world (USA, Germany, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, China & India) across several categories including food products, and has worked on some of the major launches in the industry. His career spans blue-chip companies such as P&G, Kraft and Mars. Samir is also a Danone expert in design thinking and innovation process & tools, as well as a frequent speaker in innovation forums locally & globally. Samir graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1993 with a B.Sc. in Physics and a minor in computer science; Samir also attended the launching new ventures executive education at Harvard 2013.

Ronan has worked at Kerry for more than 20 years, starting out as a food technology graduate in Ireland. He has in-depth and diverse experiences in operations, supply chain and commercial leadership roles in Europe, Latin America, as well as Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA). In 2013, Ronan moved to Latin America and spent seven years in leadership positions within acquisition integration, branded foodservice, and general management. Appointed to his present role based in Singapore in July 2020, Ronan is responsible for growing Kerry’s Food and Meat end use markets in the APMEA region. He is passionate about building businesses for sustainable long-term growth, and keeping consumers at the heart of the conversation. Ronan holds a degree in Food Technology from University College Cork, studied Leadership at Hult International Business School, Business Administration at the Irish Management Institute and International Leadership at Stanford University.

Seif Salama is the operations director of Tulima Farms and Agri-Processing, an Egyptian Start-up working towards revolutionising the agricultural field through efficient use of hydroponics. Seif, having a background in the manufacturing industry and lean management, gravitated towards agriculture by seeing the efficiencies hydroponics can provide every day small farmers in yield and quality - through control of the agricultural process and through application of science to a field that has historically been experience driven.

PRIMA Project Officer, Agrofood Value Chain

Dr. Mohamed Wageih is PRIMA Project Officer for Agrofood Value Chain. Before joining PRIMA in 2018, he was working as a Director of Observatory of Business Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship at a private university and a Project Manager in Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt. Over 10 years (2008-2018), he developed and coordinated several EU funded projects and actions in Egypt and MENA region under various instruments, EuropeAid, FP7, H2020, DG NEAR, and others. Currently at PRIMA Secretariat in Barcelona, he is monitoring the implementation of Agrofood funded projects as well as the development of PRIMA Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Platform (PRIMA MEL). He developed PRIMA Intelligent Analytical tool so PRIMA 19 Participating States can monitor its annual performance.

He is a Food health and safety consultant & an International lecturer accredited in the United Kingdom for all food safety and computer qualifications in  manufacturing, catering, and retail. He holds a Masters degree in food safety and quality assurance from Cairo University and has conducted his Postgraduate studies at the University of Florence, Italy, on the philosophy of laws governing food safety European. He works at the International Institute of Agriculture in Florence and is Certified in many modern management programs from Harvard University in the United States. He is also an Internationally certified trainer. Mamdouh has had many television and radio interviews and articles published in several newspapers And magazines. 

Technical and Marketing Director, EMEA

Marc is an Industrial Engineer and entrepreneur passionate about LEDs and lighting in general. He was born in lighting with the LED revolution in 2009 starting a lighting company in Spain called LEDsPRO that was successfully sold to the French company Lucibel after 2 years in the market. With the boom of the LED industry and with his company sold to Lucibel he moved to France to work in the R&D department to develop new LED luminaires and new ideas. As anecdote the French president at that time Francois Hollande was on the TV making a demo of a bulb developed by the R&D team he was working on. After 2 years in France he moved to Germany the biggest lighting market in Europe were he started a career in Seoul Semiconductor where he actually works as a Technical and Marketing Director for EMEA. One of his passions is the horticulture and specially the technical agriculture that is changing the way we produce food nowadays. He is the Vice-Chair of the Association Vertical Farming one of the most important non-profit associations in the world related to food production and vertical farming systems with members in more than 60 countries in Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. The association cooperates with companies, government institutions, universities and research centers and is the link between them the reason to be for AVF in a search for a more sustainable and brighter future for humanity.
