Hear from Fi Europe exhibitor Scelta Mushrooms about why they exhibit at Fi Europe every year and how winning the Fi Innovation Award helped them to launch their innovation Scelta Taste Accelerator to the market.
1) Could you please give us an overview of your company, what you specialise in and where are your key geographical markets?
At Scelta Mushrooms everything revolves around mushrooms. We process mushrooms into a wide range of products, from freshly frozen and preserved mushrooms with extended shelf life to healthier appetizers and natural taste enhancers. These find their way into pizzas, soups, sauces, ready meals and other products and are available in multiple international supermarkets. In over 71 countries worldwide, billions of our mushrooms are used by the leading brands in the food industry, food service and in retail. In addition, we are constantly working on potential new developments with partners, on new taste sensations, sustainable solutions and healthy products, because “winnovation” is the foundation of our business.
2) How long have you exhibited at Fi Europe what events have you participated in?
We exhibited at Food Ingredients Europe for the first time in Frankfurt in 2009 and have been present at all consecutive editions. This year we will be exhibiting at stand 08.0T1.
3) Why do you choose to exhibit at Fi Europe?
Fi Europe is for us a great way to present ourselves to the European food industry and to introduce our new “winnovations” to the market. Every edition we generate a high amount of quality leads, which convert to new business. Furthermore, Fi Europe enables us to stay up to date with the trends in the European food market and provides us with inspiration for new product development.
4) In your opinion what is the biggest benefit of exhibiting?
In 3 days we are able to meet with industry professionals from across the whole of Europe. It is a very effective and efficient way of meeting not only existing customers, but also new buyers.
5) Who is your target audience and do our events cater to your target audience?
We supply our wide range of products to 3 channels: food industry, food service and retail. The decision makers and influencers from these 3 channels - such as managers, buyers and R&D - are our target audience. This certainly matches with the visitor profile at Fi Europe.
6) What are your general objectives for exhibiting – to find new business/ source distributors/ launch products to market/ meet existing customers? And do you achieve these objectives?
The main objective varies per event. In general we exhibit to present ourselves to potential new customers and meet up with existing customers. As we are constantly working on new products, in recent editions we also always had a new product in the spotlights. For example, during the last edition in 2015, we introduced our line of sodium reduction ingredients called Scelta Taste Accelerator to the market, which was very successful. We definitely achieved our objectives.
7) In 2015 you won the Fi Innovation Award, how did this award help your business?
We are very proud to have won one of the biggest awards in the industry, in a competition with such a strong number of competitors. By the evaluation of a jury of experts, the FI Innovation Awards provided us with an objective platform to disclose the potential of Scelta Taste Accelerator as a powerful sodium reduction tool and natural flavour enhancer to a wide public. Winning this award gave our new product a flying start in the market. It attracted many visitors to our booth and website and it raised the interest of the press; all of this led to many new contacts.
8) Would you recommend other companies to enter the awards?
Certainly. It helped us a lot to introduce our new product to the market and contributed to a powerful launch.
9) And how would you summarise the partnership the Fi Global has built with Scelta Mushrooms over the years?
A connection with the world’s food industry.
