There Are Many Trends In Today's Work-force That Influence Organizational Behavior. In This Paper I Hope To Effectively Examine Many Of The Barriers That Have Created These Trends. My First Concept Of Organizational Behavior Is Diversity, Specifically In The Workplace. Question? What Are The Barriers That Affect Diversity? There Are Several Organizational Barriers Inhibited Employment Of Ethinically Diverse Groups In The Workplace. Many Of These Barriers Come From The Environment Of The Company In General. The Next Type Of Barrier Comes From The Individual Employee. This Includes Negative Attitudes Toward People Who Are Different, Discrimination, Prejudice, Stereotyping, Racism And Bias. This Is On An Individual Basis. Other Barriers Include, Poor Career Planning, Inadequate Skill Preparation, Lack Of Organizational Political Savvy, Lack Of Proper Eduation, Low Self Esteem And Poor Image. By by Familia Intl Many factors influence diversity in te work place such as global market place, economics, comfort with being different, a diverse customer base, and equal opportunity employment and affirmative action programs. Organizations must manage diversity in order to succeed, and also to remain productive and competitive. Most companies want the best most diverse workforce. To obtain this is not a natrual occurrence. Most organizations fight to keep the above barriers to a minimum in their workplace and provide learning objectives to their staff to help. Tactics used like training and education programs, organizational policies that mandate fairness and equity for all employees. For example the organization that I work for has policy called "Core Values". In my organization this represents teamwork, respect and communication in every aspect of your position. This policy was in doubt design to address the diversity in its realms. It is also a rewards program. If an employee meets certain exceptional requirement that fit into the "Core Values" sytem, they are rewarded. Also mentoring programs, outreach and career development
programs are geared toward enhancement of diversity. Going forward These types of tactics are trends most organizations have adopted in American and around the world. The society demands. Nowadays, potential employees are looking for how diverse the company is along with the pay and location. This is something expected of an organization. In the future, the trends related to diversity may include more globalization of corporations. The more we as a society becomes diverse, the maket place becomes more diverse. This includes the workplace. Many employees of an organization speak many languages, deal with many cultures. We will become united. As we know today, most manufactures of parts and car companies have factories all over the world. Most American companies are Globalized in way we just don't realize. There is no such thing really as an American car. Why, because the parts for the vehicles are manufactured in another county. The same with other companies. Shoes, clothes, toys, even prepackage food, comes from many countries around the world. My opinion this is a good thing and should be embraced.
